WKIS FM/KISS Country Launches Brand New Gretchen 99.9 Radio Station In HD RADIO

MIAMI, Florida, September 28, 2005 – Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc.’s South Florida Country Radio Powerhouse, WKIS FM/KISS Country, has launched a unique new radio station, the 100,000 watt Gretchen 99.9, on expanded radio spectrum made possible by HD Radio™ technology.

Gretchen 99.9 on HD 2 is the first country radio station inspired by, named after, and voiced by a major country star – the “Redneck Woman” herself – Gretchen Wilson.  In conjunction with the release of “All Jacked Up,” Wilson’s brand new CD from SONY BMG Music Entertainment, Gretchen Wilson herself has supported the birth of Gretchen 99.9 by acting as the station’s spokeswoman and inviting listeners to try “her” station. Gretchen 99.9 can be found via streaming on the internet by visiting www.wkis.com

The brand new, commercial-free station is the brainchild of WKIS-FM’s Program Director, Bob Barnett, and showcases music from core artists including Hank Williams, Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers, Montgomery-Gentry, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Travis Tritt, Toby Keith, Gretchen Wilson, and other musically inventive, creative “outlaws” of the format.

“Gretchen 99.9 will embrace the rebel attitude of country, re-inspired by Gretchen Wilson”, said Barnett.  “Gretchen 99.9 is for country music fans who aren’t afraid to be “politically uncorrect,” as Wilson herself would say.

HD RadioÔ is a new technology that enables AM and FM radio stations to broadcast their programs digitally, providing listeners with HD Radio compatible receivers the ability to hear radically improved audio quality and better signal reception.  Listeners can also view song and artist information while enjoying choices between different programming on the same FM frequency.
