iBiquity Digital Adds Broadcast Executive to Broaden International Efforts For Adoption of HD Radio Technology
Columbia, MD — September 22, 2005 — iBiquity Digital Corporation, the sole developer of HD Radio™ technology, today announced that Perry Priestley, a broadcast industry professional with over 20 years experience, has joined iBiquity as director of international broadcast business development. In this role, Priestley will broaden the corporation’s efforts to roll out HD Radio Digital AM and FM technology in markets around the world.
Priestley has worked in both technical and commercial positions within the broadcast industry throughout his career. Most recently, he served as director of sales for Thales Broadcast and Multimedia, overseeing the Canadian, Caribbean and Latin American markets. At Thales, Priestley’s responsibilities included marketing, sales and standards promotion in the digital radio and television markets. He has also held positions with Comark Communications, Philips North America and Pye TVT.
“The addition of Perry to our team is a response to the increased interest we are seeing in HD Radio technology from international markets,” said Robert Struble, President and CEO of iBiquity Digital Corporation. “Perry’s international expertise and experience within the broadcast technology industry will be invaluable as we work with countries around the world to implement HD Radio technology and expose more audiences to the system’s digital sound quality and advanced features.”
HD Radio technology transmits digital audio and data alongside existing AM and FM analog signals, allowing listeners with HD Radio receivers to enjoy crystal-clear reception and CD-quality sound. Unlike other digital broadcasting technologies, HD Radio works within the existing analog spectrum, allowing unused spectrum to be preserved for future needs. Through this approach, HD Radio technology enables AM and FM radio stations throughout the world to transition to digital broadcasting in a seamless, non-disruptive manner. The technology also provides a platform for advanced interactive features that include: multicasting (multiple channels broadcast on a single FM frequency), real-time traffic and weather services, scrolling text on the receiver display, and Surround Sound.
