COLUMBIA, MD – June 1, 2006 – In response to the swiftly growing adoption of HD Radio™ technology among Japanese auto makers, iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer and licensor of digital HD Radio broadcasting, announced today that it has contracted with the Sanyo Trading Co. to support and expand iBiquity’s presence in Japan.  Sanyo Trading, a leading Japanese international trader and sales representative firm, has a long track record of successfully representing US and European companies to Japanese automakers.

“The growth of HD Radio in the U.S. and other markets has gained tremendous momentum in the past year,” said Mr. Jeff Jury, iBiquity chief operating officer. “Our efforts with Japanese automotive OEMs have been steadily increasing.   As a result, we are pleased to partner with a world class organization such as the Sanyo Trading Co. to provide even greater assistance to automotive OEMs launching HD Radio technology.”

“We are very pleased to work with iBiquity Digital Co. to expand HD Radio technology. About HD Radio™

More than 800 AM and FM stations in the U.S. now broadcasting with digital HD Radio technology, with an additional 2,000-plus stations in the process of upgrading to the HD Radio system.  HD Radio tests are underway around the world, including in Brazil, Canada, France, Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, and Thailand.  HD Radio technology works by transmitting digital audio and data alongside existing AM and FM analog signals, allowing listeners to enjoy dramatically improved sound quality, while virtually eliminating the static and hiss often associated with analog radio.  Beyond delivering superior sound, the technology provides a platform for advanced new services, including HD2 multicasting - a feature that enables FM stations to broadcast multiple streams of unique programming over a single frequency, independent of existing analog signals. HD2 multicast programming is currently available on approximately 200 FM stations around the country. HD Radio technology also allows for data services to be delivered directly to receivers, such as text scrolled across the product displays (e.g., artist names & song titles, local weather forecasts, and traffic alerts). There are no subscription fees associated with HD Radio, though consumers do need to purchase an HD Radio receiver to experience the benefits of digital broadcasting.  For a list of HD Radio stations, visit www.hdradio.com.
