Broadcasters to Ramp Up HD Radio Promotions
Dallas, Texas (September 21, 2006) – NAB Radio Show – HD Radio broadcasters across the country will begin new promotions this winter by giving away thousands of new radios. The HD Radio receivers span three product categories, highlighted by a connector that quickly upgrades listeners’ current car radios to receive all HD Radio programming. In addition, a hip table top radio and component tuner for home audio systems will be made available, providing broadcasters with the ability to appeal to a range of market segments. iBiquity Digital is making these products available to HD Radio stations at $99*, approximately one third of manufacturers’ suggested retail prices.
“Now, more than ever, is the time to push listeners to retail stores to buy HD Radio products to truly appreciate the industry’s digital creativity,” said Robert Struble, President and CEO of iBiquity Digital. “This is a unique opportunity to accelerate consumer adoption of the technology, build listenership and grow stations’ ROI. Over the next six months, we expect to see a proliferation of creative promotions across the country that leverage these excellent products and bring consumers into stores.”
Broadcasters can order new radios at “exclusive, broadcast-promotion-only” prices by clicking here.
The three products are:
- A car connect adaptor from Directed Electronics – The perfect solution for consumers who want HD Radio in their vehicles but prefer not to remove their factory-installed receivers. Requiring only a connection via wired RF or Aux line input, this adaptor can bring digital AM and FM radio to life in nearly any car or boat.
- A table top from Directed Electronics – This three-piece tabletop radio offers two detached stereo speakers in a compact frame, making it the ideal complement to any home or office setting. External AM and FM antennas are provided.
- HDT-1 Tuner from Sangean – This HD Radio tuner is for the music lover who wants to upgrade his home theater system and receive HD2 channels and crystal-clear broadcasting at home.
(*plus $14 shipping and handling per unit)
Radios will ship from their manufacturers directly to stations with expected delivery at the beginning of December.
