POWER 800 BEGINS FIRST SPANISH LANGUAGE FORMAT IN HD RADIO

December 19, 2006 Methuen Massachusetts-Costa Eagle Broadcasting has announced that it's flagship station POWER 800, has begun broadcasting it's Spanish-language music format in HD Radio. POWER 800 becomes the first Spanish-language station in New England to broadcast in iBiquity's HD (Hybrid Digital) format which offers CD quality sound and vastly reduced interference.

The HD format will also offer POWER 800's sudience and advertisers stereo signal, and access to additional signals for multiple distinct audio services such as weather and traffic, as well data broadcasting which will provide additional information about the program, advertisers, and the station.

The FCC selected HD Radio as the standard for local area broadcasts of signals within the United States. HD-capable receivers can be purchased for as little as $100. Manufacturers have focused on making HD-capable car stereos and BMW was recently the first to announce that these receivers would be an option for their 2007 6-series and 5-series models.

Costa Eagle Broadcasting CEO Pat Costa says that HD radio is a major upgrade for both Power 800's listening audience and advertisers. "Obviously the stereo, cd-quality signal, and increased signal coverage and clarity is a huge plus for our listeners. This is the direction broadcast radio is going and we are pleased to be among the first to offer it to our audience. Additionally this makes Power 800 an even more formidable advertising force for companies looking to tap into the expanding Spanish-language market. Our entrance into HD Radio is a win for everyone."

Power 800 has been serving the vibrant Hispanic community from Lawrence to Boston since 1990, broadcasting to the fastest growing ethnic population in New England. Power 800 is the most listened to Hispanic radio station in Massachusetts.
