Jensen Introduces Two Digital HD Radioâ„¢ Receivers
Las Vegas NV – October 2007 – Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX). Attendees at the 2007 SEMA Show were treated to the introduction of Jensen’s first two digital HD Radio* receivers, Models HD5112 and HD5212. Audiovox Corporation president Tom Malone pointed out that the two receivers HD5112 are perfect for the person looking to get into the emerging format of high-definition radio, a format, he said, that is gaining in popularity nationally. “The HD5112 and HD5212 are the first HD Radio car receivers to offer iPod connectivity and satellite radio capability. Through the use of the iPod connecting cable (included) the user will be able to access his or her media library via the radio’s control panel. Both models have all the features that a first-time consumer is looking for. The only difference is the cosmetics; HD5112 (MSRP: $149.99) has a silver face plate and HD5212 (MSRP: $159.99) has a black plate.” Additional features include front Aux input – 3.5mm, detachable faceplate and a positive LCD display with blue-back lighting (HD5112) and a black STN with White LED Backlighting (HD5212).
Malone emphasizes HD Radio broadcasting is here to stay. “There are more than 1,500 stations across the country broadcasting with HD Radio technology, with over 700 FM stations offering a second channel (HD2) and, in many cases, a third one (HD3). These channels are free----there are no additional fees or costs, but HD Radio can only be found on HD Radio receivers. The consumer will be attracted to our products because they both offer the digital HD Radio option and give iPod playback capability with the connecting cable (included at no extra charge), a USB port that supports most thumb drives, SD card support and MP3/WMA files…..and they are both XM and Sirius capable.” USB port that supports most thumb drives, SD card support and MP3/WMA files…..and they are both XM and Sirius capable.”
“All Jensen HD Radio receivers,” continued Malone, “go through the same rigorous testing as our multimedia radios. The HD5112 and HD5212 are designed for mobile use. They have shock-resistant features and were tested under actual driving conditions, from highway to off-road and everything in between. All operating systems for these products were field tested by a variety of focus groups and found to be easy to operate with minimal learning time. Malone also said that the HD5112 and HD5212 will give Audiovox’s dealer-partners an opportunity to provide the consumer with a high definition alternative to satellite radio. They will be selling FM stations with CD-quality sound, AM stations with FM-quality sound, crystal-clear reception with no audio distortion, all with no subscription fee for the digital quality. These products represent an additional selling opportunity with increased profit potential.”
