iBiquity Digital Certifies LG Innotek's
Shenzhen, China – October 8, 2008 –iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of digital HD Radio technology for AM and FM audio and data broadcasting, announced today that it has certified LG Innotek’s TMHS-S001T. The HD Radio modules introduced by LG Innotek, characterized by their small footprint, are the first certified HD Radio modules designed with SiPort’s SP1010 single-chip HD Radio receiver. The SiPort SP1010 solution received full HD Radio certification in mid-August 2008.
LG Innotek is releasing a full line of the next generation HD Radio modules that incorporate the SP1010 providing category-leading digital and analog radio performance for the mobile, tabletop and automotive aftermarket segments. The new line of modules will offer variations for home audio video receivers with built-in AM and FM antenna connector, miniaturized modules for delivery of broadcast audio and data services on Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs), automotive navigation systems, Personal Media Players (PMPs) and other consumer electronics platforms.
Jeff Jury, COO of iBiquity, said, “LG Innotek has always been in the forefront of the HD Radio module business. Once again, they have positioned themselves to continue their legacy by broadening their module lineup and bringing to market the next generation of low-cost and low-power solutions.”
Sid Agrawal, CEO of SiPort Inc. said, “The launch of LG Innotek’s extreme performance, ultra low-power HD Radio module solutions for the aftermarket automotive, home and mobile market segments is a landmark event and will accelerate the terrestrial broadcast audio market transition from analog to digital, as well as bring a variety of digital data services to consumer platforms.”
Working closely with SiPort, LG Innotek has integrated an Atmel AM/FM tuner (Model: AT4262) on certain modules. Working with the Atmel tuner with its Superheterodyne architecture, LG Innotek can cater to the aftermarket automotive receiver manufacturers looking for increased sensitivity, adjacent channel selectivity and superior IMD (inter-modulation distortion) performance.
LG Innotek together with SiPort offers a Software Development Kit (SDK) version 3.3 support, which allows existing products in the market to be backwards compatible with iBiquity’s previous SDK version 1.12. This backwards compatibility allows receiver manufacturers to quickly transition to the next-generation low-cost solutions with minimal impact on software development.
LG Innotek will be releasing five next-generation modules based on SiPort’s SP1010 single-chip HD Radio receiver. All modules are currently available as evaluation samples. Mass production is scheduled from mid-October 2008 to January 2009, depending on the particular module.
Below is an overview of the next generation modules, model number and brief description.
